Auroville (‘The City of Down’) is town or an experimental township designed by Roger Anger. It is situated at the Viluppuram district and is extended most of part in Tamil Nadu state and some part in Pundicherry, India. Mirra Alfassa (Know as “The Mother”) was founder of the beautiful city in 1968. It is a Universal township where men and women from the all corner of the world can live in peace and harmony. Auroville is founded for the purpose of realize human unity. Vision of Auroville is not belonged to any particular persons; it belongs to humanity as a whole.
Etymology of Auroville, the name of the city is origins from the French word “Aurore” meaning “ville”. As well the name is putted after Sri Aurobindo.
In 1964, the Sri Aurobindo society in Pondicherry is taken a decision for making a well planed city dedicated to the dream of Sri Aurobindo. The aim of the developing this experimental ‘universal township’ is to realize human unity where people live all over the world with peaceful way. On the inauguration, 124 nations delegate came to attended the ceremony at 28 February 1968. In the Auroville, around 60 percent of Aurovillians are foreigner.
Matrimandir is the situated in the center of the town, which was conceived by Alfassa as “a sign of divine’s respond to man’s ambition for perfection’. On and around area of the Matrimandir is called Peace area. The Matrimandir is not a tourist site; it is a place for individual silence attentiveness. To visit on Matrimandir view point, you should take a pass which is absolutely free.
Auroville beach is also a better way to span a beautiful evening. With the roaring of sea, you can get some unforgettable moments.
By the way, through the year you will found hot day there. But on my point of view late October to November (Monsoon Season) can be the best time for you.
