Kanyakumari is only place in India where three (Arabian Sea, Bay of Bengal and Indian Ocean) are confluence and about 90 km away from Thiruvananthapuram. The Town is also known as Cape Comorin or Kumari Munai. Kanniyakumari is a town located in Kanyakumari District of Tamil Nadu, India. Kanyakumari is a famous tourist place and has been a town since Sangam Period.
Kanyakumari is the only place in the world where you can view Sunrise and Sunset sitting at the very same place. The small town has Temples, Churches, Statues and most beautiful thing Beaches with many colors of sands. Kanyakumari is also popular for the Vivekananda Rock Memorial where Swami Vivekanand contemplated and makes a decision to convey his message of peace through the global.
One can get unique and luxurious feel with Sunset and Moonrise on the full moon day. Kanyakumari is only place where one can watch both the Sun and Moon in front of each other at the same horizon and it becomes more spectacles on the Full Moon day that happens in the months of April-May (Chitra Paurnima).
According to Legends there are many stories behind the Goddess Kanya Kumari. The Name of the town is also taken from the Devi Kanya Kumari, considered to be sister of God Sri Krishana. Maa Kumari amman or Maa Kanya Kumari temple is one of the 108 Shakti Peetha Temple in Kanyakumari, India.
One can visit at Kanyakumari through the year but as my point of view January to March and October to December will be the best time.
