Pushkar Lake

Pushkar is very famous place in the world due to Pushkar Lake or Pushkar Sarovar and most sacred pilgrimage of Hindus not only in India but also in the World. Puskhkar is especially for Creation of God, Lord Brahma. This is most prominent temple in the world.

Pushkar Lake

Pushkar word is broadly divide in two words that Pushp mean "flower" (Blue Lotus Flower) and "Kar" mean Hands. Everyone who visits there drops the flower in lake and wishes for their good luck.

Surrounding the lake around 55 bathing ghats on special day that is related to Hindu customs as like Kartik Poornima (October - November) need large numbers of scared persons come in lake for bath. On around 500 Hindus temples situated around the lake.

Tourism is main cause of affecting the quality of water of lake; tourists are reducing quality water quality and fish also destroying. According to water conservation department state government is taking some major steps for conserve water pollution.

The lake is in Ajmer city in Rajasthan state in the lap of Aravalli rangs (Nag Parbat and Snake Mountain). This artificial lake created in desert part that is "Sacred Lake", this is type of lake in India.

Climate of the lake is semi- arid. Maximum temperature 45 degree Celsius in May and June they are hottest months. Minimum temperature is around 25 -10 degree Celsius, during the months January and February. Average rainfall is 400-600 MM.

Lake catchment area is around 22 square kilometers and depth is around 8 to 10 meters. Total storage capacity of water in the lake is around 1.03 million cu yd.
