Jaisalmer Fort (Second oldest fort of Rajasthan)

Jaisalmer Fort is situated in Rajasthan state and Jaisalmer city and known as Sonar Quila or Golden Fort. The fort was built in 1156 by Rawal Jaisal. The fort is amidst in great Thar Desert on Trikuta Hill. The fort shows awesome history period of the state, this fort shows traditions, cultures and customs of state. Beautiful spot made up yellow sandstone that looks honey bright color at night. It height is at 250 feet and 99 bastions in lovely spot. One amazing thing in the fort is that a big source of underground water through wells.

Amazing History of the Fort

The fort was built by Bhati Rajput Rao Jaisal. The fort has three layers, inner and outer layer made up sandstone and middle layer sustain loose rubble so the fort is so strong for every purpose especially for battle. It has faced various battles in the city and those battles were related to Rajput Dynasty, Maratha Dynasty and Mughal and many more.

Some battles were so important in the fort that are related to Ala-ud-din-Khilji and hold the fort around 9 years, Mughal emperor founder’s son (Humayun ) invented the city fort in 1541. The fort also related to India V/S Pakistan war 1965 and 1971.

Architecture

The fort is around 1500 ft long and 750 ft wide. It is on a hill and height at 250 ft surrounding city. In the fort a basement also available that formed specially defense.
