The Gateway of India is a 20th century monument situated in Mumbai. It is one of the unique landmarks of India situated at the tip of Apollo Bunder (A famous meeting place) area of south Mumbai and was built in 1924. The great historical monument was built for memorialize the Royal visit of King George V and Queen Mary in 1911. After ended British Raj 1947, the Gateway of India Monument has become a glory of Mumbai city.
Gateway of India is built with basalt and strong concrete in the form of arc. The monument is 26 meter tall and was designed by George Wittet. The final designed was complete in 1914 after that between years 1915 to 1919, work progressed at Apollo port. The basis of the monument was completed in 1920, and in 1924 the Gateway of India was completed. The design of the Gate is looked like Muslim architecture but the decoration is completed in Hindu Style.
