The rich culture of Goa is hard to define in words. The concept of Diversity in unity can clearly be seen in the festivals or the religious gatherings, where the people, irrespective of the religion and values, participate altogether for making it a big occasion. Corriddinho, Dulpad, Mandoa and Fado are some of the unique Goan traditional art forms.

The regular diet of the people of Goa is the Rice with curry. Fish is prepared in a number of ways in the state. Some of the famous ingredients being used in Goan cuisines are coconut oil, tender coconut, chilli pepper and vinegar. Feni is the famous alcoholic beverage manufactured in Goa, by fermentation of the cashew tree fruits. A rich wine culture is served by the state.

Geography

Goa falls in the tropical zone and its location near the Arabian Sea makes it humid round the year. The temperature remains hot all round year, May being the hottest month. Monsoon arrives by early June and last till the month of September. Winter season is the shortest among all seasons that start in the mid of December and continues till February.

The scenic state is categorized into two districts: North Goa and South Goa. Headquarters of the region of North Goa are located in the Panaji, the capital city of Goa. Headquarters of South Goa district is based in Margao. Major cities of the state are Panaji, Ponda, Mapusa, Margao and Vasco Da Gama. North Goa and South Goa are further partitioned into a number of subdivisions.

Economy

Goa is one of the richest states of the country with highest GDP per capita. Tourism, being the most flourishing industry contributes a lot to the economy of the state. The land is rich in ores and minerals; this makes mining the second largest industry. There are a number of medium scale industries in Goa including, chemicals, fertilizers, pharmaceuticals, steel rolling, cashew nuts, fruits Canning, fish canning, brewery, pesticides, tyres, textiles, wheat products, tubes and many more. Agriculture is the lowest source of income in the state and does not play any important role in the economy a well.
