Agnigarh is located North bank on Brahmaphutra River in Tezpur, Assam. According the historical and Hindu mythological the place is known as ‘love Site’ in Sonitpur district. The site was built by Banasura to his daughter Usha in isolation. In Assamese language Agni mean Fire and Garh mean a place surrounding by wall together so fortress and currently very amazing hill garden.
According to a legend story that fortress had surrounded by fair all time and nobody couldn’t enter without permission. Daughter of Banasura (Usha) fell in love with Aniruddha in her dream but she didn’t know who was he, but Aniruddha was Krisana’s grandson and the Usha was daughter of Asura King so mostly persons oppose love of them. So this story says that how they get love through more struggles. People says that a battle was related to Lord Krishana and Shiva they want to do battle for love couple but Lord Brahma request of them stop war after more struggle both family agreed to married. But various legendry stories related it.
Present day Agnigarh only a hillock facing Brahmaputra that is also provide great importance Tezpur. Many visiting spots are available for tourist as like trekking options, Sculptures, beautiful hill station, parks, museums etc.
