Golkonda or Golconda

Golkonda mean "Round Shaped Hill" the fort was capital of the ancient Kingdom of Golconda in southern India. It was capital city in medieval period during the Qutb Shahi Dynasty (1528-1687) and near the Hyderabad city around 11 kilometers. Everyone knows about the Kohinoor Diamond. It was located in India but history says other diamonds and other diamonds were once located in the Golkonda. So the region is very famous production region and world famous mining place for gems. The fortress is built on granite hills. The fort looks massive battlements and destroyed and rebuilt by Rani Rudrama Devi and his successor Prataparudra.



The fort is well known for world famous diamonds as like koh-i-Noor and Hope Diamond. But today also so attractive for gold mining spot that is located in Kollur Mine. The fort was main market for diamond trade.
